Quest to find the best coffee shop in Berkeley

I’ve decided to take on a very important, very unfunded research project: finding the best coffee shop in Berkeley.

The methodology is still a work in progress, but so far my criteria are:

• Coffee drink quality — I am not elite enough to drink my coffee black, so I will be judging based on the taste and creativity of the drinks
• Seating — a real chair, a real table, and enough room to open a laptop without elbowing a stranger
• Noise level — quiet enough to focus, lively enough not to feel like a library
• Vibe — hard to define, easy to recognize
